This high quality classic Janssens Royal Victorian VI 23 Small Greenhouse Kit provides the optimum environment for gardening year round while adding a delightful stately presence to any backyard setting.

The substantial aluminum framework and full 6ft 7in side wall height give you a comfortable interior workspace. The peak height is 8ft 6in. It has ample room to use as a small greenhouse for your veggies and other plants, or as a sunroom to enjoy the outdoors while you are shielded from the elements.

The Royal Victorian line is available in four sizes. The VI 23 is the small one in the series, at 7ft 9in W x 10ft 2in L x 8ft 6in H. Larger models are the VI 34, VI 36, and VI 46. You have a choice of standard Black or Fir Green aluminum frame. Other colors are available by special order to match your decor. The Janssens Royal Victorian VI 23 Small Greenhouse Kit comes with:

If you choose 4 mm tempered glass you will enjoy a full view of your surroundings and full sunlight entering the greenhouse. This choice offers a traditional beautiful look and crystal clear views with maximum interior light.  With glass side walls, you can choose either a glass roof or a hybrid configuration with the 10mm Heat Block polycarbonate roof.  The hybrid combination gives the best of both worlds - clear views, and good heat protection and insulation on the roof where most light and heat transfer is.

With the 10mm Clearer twin wall polycarbonate (on the right in the picture) on side walls and roof you will have a lot of light (81% transmission), UV protection (external side of the polycarbonate extrusions), good insulation, and a clear if somewhat distorted view of the outside.  Note that the supply of the full (side walls and roof) clearer polycarbonate VI 23 is limited, and only available while supplies last.  No hybrid version is available with this glazing choice.

With the newer 10mm Heat Block twin wall polycarbonate roof (on the left in the picture), you will have more diffuse sunlight (58% transmission), a higher level of UV protection (both sides of the polycarbonate extrusions), good insulation, and the panels are more opaque, offering no clear visibility outside. This choice offers the most heat protection. A full (side walls and roof) model is available by custom order. The hybrid model has glass walls with a Heat Block roof.

Whether you are overwintering special or valuable plants from the cold, starting seedlings, or creating a tropical jungle, you can enjoy years of maintenance-free use. The automatic roof opener, louvered window, and misting system are included to allow you to control the environment within your greenhouse. Optional shade cloth curtains or roller shades are also available if you need more shade in your greenhouse.

The VI 23 is perfect for use as a full featured greenhouse, a cozy jacuzzi house, a sunroom, or an elegant outdoor entertainment space to extend your parties beyond your living room.

My Fun Fantastic Greenhouse

This is by far one of the most rewarding projects I have taken on!!! I have always wanted a greenhouse and when I saw this one...I spent a week doing research, and bought it. I got a late start on it so I built the frame and mounted on a concrete slab (not necessary...I just wanted it) it was too late to install the glass...so I waited for the first nice spring day and finished it off. Had great help from Andrew and staff...thank you. This is my second year with it and I totally love it!! I'm in Wisconsin so it's not practical for use in the winter other then setting it up to soak up the warmth on a nice sunny day and read a book with a glass of wine in a tee-shirt...even if it's 0 degrees!!!

Excellent greenhouse professional quality

I purchased the vi23 two years ago and could not be more pleased. I have a very small yard would buy the biggest possible otherwise. I am a retired Horticulturist and have owned the double wall polycarbonate and aluminum in past. This product adds beauty and function with lasting quality to your home landscape. The staff were unbelievably helpful and prompt in service. The packaging of the greenhouse was top notch with no problems and the set up was quite basic as well, with the help of my carpenter. Before the greenhouse arrived I received a phone call from the supplier, to make sure I had all the information I needed, and he gave me tips and explanations to help assembly. I have a greenhouse that will last for many years. I live in Memphis Tennessee our zone is a 7b. I have added two small "dairy" type electric heaters, lights, and fan. I added the accessories kit when I purchased. The shade cloth is invaluable here in the mid-south.

  • Can I Use My Greenhouse as an Additional Living Space?

    These structures are designed to be a greenhouse first and foremost. As packaged, the greenhouse is not designed to be water/air tight. Greenhouse plants do benefit from a turn of air. You may need to do some extra sealing with silicone on the roof around the glass to achieve watertightness.The glass is uninsulated single pane, so there is a good chance for condensation on the inside that might drip. We recommend any furniture be indoor/outdoor and that fine wood furniture/electronics be avoided or sufficiently protected.The roof windows do have auto openers, so there is always a chance with a summer rainstorm (with the temp above 70) that the windows could be open and it could rain in. You can disconnect the automatic openers or switch to all manual openers if preferred.  We have a blog article about some ways to handle condensation.On sunny days, glass greenhouses can get warm very quickly. Depending on your climate, you will likely be fighting the heat in the summer (late spring/early fall).

    There are several steps you can think about to mitigate heat build up while planning your project: Put the greenhouse under deciduous trees so that in winter you get full sun, but great shade in the summer. Install shade curtains, or roller shades in the ceiling so that you can adjust the light when it is hot out. Consider a twin-wall Heat Block polycarbonate roof instead of glass. Commercial tinting firms can apply a tint to the windows. Use an exhaust fan. Install additional doors, roof vents, and tilt out or louvre windows that can be screened and left open during warm weather. Use a circulation fan, swamp cooler (depending on your humidity), or other active cooling - we've had several customers install wall-mounted air conditioners.It has been done, but you will need to make customized adjustments such as extra sealing, climate control, window tinting and heating.

  • Does there need to be a concrete pad installed before constructing the VI 23 greenhouse? Do you do that or is that the homeowners responsibility?

    I appreciate your interest in our Victorian Greenhouses!The manufacturer recommends a concrete strip foundation around the perimeter of the greenhouse into which the included anchors can be embedded after the structure is built. This gives the strongest anchoring. There are also other methods that can be used to anchor the greenhouse as well. Information on these can be found in the included assembly manual - there is a lot of resource information in the first 20 pages of the manual on preparation for the greenhouse. You do not need a full concrete slab, although some people may choose to do this based on the usage of the greenhouse.We only offer the greenhouse kits and this does not include assembly or site preparation - this would be the responsibility of the homeowner. The greenhouse units are designed to be a DIY assembly for handy homeowners, although not everyone chooses to assemble themselves. If you would like, we do maintain a referral list for assemblers.
