DESCRIPTION

The Santa Barbara Montecito 6 ft or 9 ft Wide Lean-To Greenhouse is built with a ruggedized, heavy-duty, exclusive “Insalume” frame. This provides added durability and insulation. It is available in a wide range of sizes to fit any yard and growing capacity.

The strong aluminum frame is highly insulated with 8mm twin-wall polycarbonate panels that slip perfectly into the pre-cut channels in the frame, to create dead air spaces that serve as insulation. No bar caps or gaskets are needed because of this smart design, and everything is bolted together with hefty 16 gauge steel plates to create a sturdy and durable structure.

The lean-to greenhouse can fit into a narrow space against your house or garage. If located against your house, it will reduce heating costs. If placed over a door or window, the heat from your home can be utilized to maintain growing temperatures throughout winter. Another advantage is the easy access from your home into your greenhouse. The Santa Barbara Montecito Lean-To Greenhouse Kit is designed for ease of assembly. Depending on how much help you have, it can be erected in just 2 or 3 days. All parts are pre-cut and pre-drilled at the factory and all the hardware is sorted for your convenience.

  • I am interested in a 6' X 10' lean-to greenhouse for my home. Is there an option for having transparent panels on the front of the greenhouse that would enable a clear view? We want to put the greenhouse on a wall with windows and would like to see out. Do the lean-to greenhouse kits have roof venelation included or is that an extra?

    With the Montecito in particular, we have no option to switch out the translucent twin-wall polycarbonate for a clear glazing (e.g. glass).  The redwood units from Santa Barbara can be ordered with glass walls, as can the aluminum Janssens Arcadia lean to's.

  • Like the design and price. Concerning about installation. Do you have local partner to help installation? How much cost? OR, if DIY, is it difficult and need handyman?

    We don't have local recommendations for installers for this brand in particular. This is a high-quality brand, and the 'fit and finish' of the milled parts and glazing pieces is very impressive. Most of our customers install these themselves and find that everything fits beautifully. The foundation is important, as you are connecting two structures together and the greenhouse needs to be on a flat and level serface, and laying a nice concrete foundation might be outside some homeowners skill set. We do an an installation services page that might help you get started finding a local installer. As for cost, this will vary widely but we often find a good rule of thumb is to expect to pay 1/3 to 1/2 the cost of the greenhouse for a quality installation.

  • Do the Santa Barbara lean-to anchor to the wall in any way?

    Yes, all the Santa Barbara lean-to's must be anchored to a wall for wind and sealing. 

    For the deluxe redwood models, we provide ledger boards and lag bolts for this. 
    With the Montecito we provide lag bolts and steel 90 degree brackets.

    Depending on your siding type and wall type, you may need to provide expansion bolts or other methods so that you have a good fit and seal.
